ITMA is a non-profit-making, cross-industry and open industrial standards organization established on the basis of voluntariness, equality, mutual benefit and cooperation. It consists of enterprises, institutions, communities, etc. from the intelligent terminal microelectronics industry chains. The ITMA Articles is approved by the First General Assembly and submitted to the Hong Kong Government for filing and taking effect. The latest revision has been approved and officially took effect on September 25, 2024.

With the development of the association's operations, a resolution was adopted at the General Assembly on October 17, 2024: to separate the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Policy from the original first version of the Articles of Association into a standalone document. The updated Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Policy was approved and took effect upon ratification by the ITMA General Assembly on April 23, 2025.

According to the latest Intellectual Property Policy (IPR Policy) approved by the ITMA Members' Conference on April 23, 2025, the association encourages member units to disclose all necessary patent information. This document (three documents included) is a template for standard necessity patent disclosure. Member units are requested to download and use it, fill it in as needed and submit it after filling it out (Does 1 need to be filled in document 1, and agree to the disclosure requires documents 2 and 3 need to be filled in at the same time).
