1. Introduction
On December 17, 2024, ITMA SUMMIT 2024 was held in Qianhai, Shenzhen. The summit was guided by the Intelligent Terminal Microelectronics Association (ITMA) and hosted by Shenzhen Internet of Things Information Co., Ltd., working with upstream and downstream partners in the near-field interaction industry chain to explore and exchange new near-field interaction technology (iTAP).
ITMA SUMMIT 2024 is open to global users and industrial ecological partners with the theme of "One Touch Interaction, Touch the Future", and the summit site China Electronics Standardization Institute, ECMA Association, National Radio Monitoring Center Testing Center, University of Hong Kong and other professional institutions and industry-academia organizations, as well as Huawei Device Co., Ltd., Ant (Alipay), Ziguang Qingteng, Fudan Micro, Dineck, Shenzhen Intelligence and other industry leaders in the field of near-field interaction gathered together. More than 400 guests attended the discussion on near-field interactive industry technology innovation and industrial cooperation, as well as representatives from many enterprises such as the National Fintech Evaluation Center, Goodix Technology, Beijing CEC Huada Electronics, Beijing Xinzhongxin Chengtong Information, NXP, Hikvision, Lianyu Technology, China Mobile Financial Technology, OPPO, vivo, Honor, Xiaomi Technology, ZTE, etc.
2. Leader's speech
At 9:30 a.m. Beijing time, ITMA SUMMIT 2024 officially kicked off, and Mr. Zhou Shengming, Chairman of ITMA, delivered an opening speech. Mr. Zhou Shengming introduced the vision of ITMA Association - to promote the development of terminal products in the direction of ultra-miniaturization, high integration, functional diversification and artificial intelligence through the development model of standardization and supporting industrialization services. At present, the frequency of use of NFC function of smart terminals is getting higher and higher, and in the face of new scenarios and new needs, a number of ITMA members have jointly promoted the iTAP (Intelligent Non-Inductive Proximity Protocol) standardization project, and it is expected to release the 1.0 standard in the first half of 25 years to ensure the industrial application of new technologies through functional tests and compatibility tests. Mr. Zhou Shengming looked forward to the cooperation and joint innovation of upstream and downstream partners in the industry, and sincerely invited everyone to jointly draw a grand blueprint of "One Touch Interaction and Touch the Future Together".
3. Wang Wenfeng, China Electronics Standardization Institute
At the beginning of the conference, Wang Wenfeng, deputy director of China Electronics Standardization Institute, gave a special speech on "Digital Identity and Standardization", which started from the development process of digital identity and deeply analyzed the development of domestic and foreign standards organizations and industry alliances in the digital identity and near-field interaction industry. The Institute of Electronic Standards specializes in standardization in the field of industrial and electronic information technology, plays a key role in hundreds of standards organizations and related working groups, and works with operators, banks and other industry partners to carry out business applications such as digital identity. The Fourth Institute of Electronics will take standards as a position to help innovation in near-field communication technology and promote cooperation in international standards.
4、ECMA CTO Patrick Luthi
Mr. Patrick Luthi, CTO of the European Computer Manufacturers Association (ECMA), shared the relevant standards work of ECMA International and its TC51 Technical Committee in the field of NFC technology. Since 2003, ECMA has published a number of core standards and test specifications related to near-field technology, and has established in-depth cooperation with international organizations such as ISO, IEC, JTC 1, ITU-T and ETSI. In November this year, ECMA TC51 has officially passed the establishment of the iTAP technical standard, and is exploring the establishment of a cooperative relationship with ITMA to jointly promote the iTAP standard, and will further clarify the relevant standards and specifications in the future to continue to promote the development of near-field communication technology.
5. Wang Wenjian, Deputy Director of the Testing Center of the National Radio Monitoring Center
Wang Wenjian, deputy director of the testing center of the National Radio Monitoring Center, introduced the important role played by the testing center in the promotion and development of iTAP. As the only national key laboratory of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the testing center provides all-field and all-round testing and certification services including radio frequency protocol, electromagnetic compatibility, electrical safety and software evaluation. By participating in the global industry alliance and promoting technical standardization and market standardization, the testing center currently has more than 30 qualifications, and the test report is widely recognized. In the future, the testing center will escort the development of the iTAP industry by improving the evaluation system, promoting commercial applications, and building an industrial ecology, so as to achieve continuous technological breakthroughs and cross-field integration and innovation.
6. Prof. Liu Yuanwei, The University of Hong Kong
Professor Liu Yuanwei of the University of Hong Kong reviewed the development process of near-field technology and shared the technology from near-field communication to near-field sensing. Near-field technology has become a hot topic in academic research, and in the future, it can further improve the experience of near-field interaction, positioning, modeling and other scenarios, and facilitate people's daily life in multiple scenarios.

The launch ceremony of the iTAP technical white paper was held at the summit. The white paper will further promote the application and development of near-field interaction technology and open a new chapter in iTAP technology.

Qin Yao, Vice President of Industry Development of Huawei Device Co., Ltd., delivered a keynote speech titled "A New Generation of Near-field Interaction for Smart Terminals, Leading the Ultimate User Experience". At the same time, it is pointed out that in the new era of intelligence and consumption, the original NFC protocol cannot meet the needs of consumers in many scenarios. The industry needs to solve the pain points of experience and ecology through innovation in technology and protocols. The new protocol should be based on a clear intent selection and truly achieve 100% accuracy. The new protocol should be centered on intelligent terminals, expand application scenarios, realize multi-intent and multi-scenario interaction, define unified standards through the ITMA Association, implement protocol compatibility evaluation, and realize industry interconnection. Huawei will actively embrace the new iTAP protocol and look forward to working with global ecosystem partners to innovate and bring a better experience to consumers.

He pointed out that the mobile phone is now not only a communication tool, but also a super card, integrating multiple access cards, bus cards, payment cards and other functions, and the application scenarios are becoming increasingly complex. In order to meet the needs of this high level of integration, we found that the traditional ISO/IEC 14443 series protocols could no longer meet the requirements, and it was necessary to intelligently solve the pain points such as multi-card selection and payment delay by upgrading the protocols to improve the user experience. In this context, after the release of iTAP, we will comprehensively upgrade the full range of products to fully support iTAP applications and further enhance the user experience. Compared with scanning the code payment, "touch" does not need to ask who will initiate the scanning code, does not need to look for payment software in the full-screen application, does not interrupt the process of the mobile phone, and can complete the payment with a simple touch, making it more convenient and efficient, more intuitive and more specific. At present, Touch has been connected to more than 100,000 restaurants, bringing more convenience to consumers and merchants. Song Yang said that the new experience of "touching" is inseparable from the high-performance near-field communication mechanism and high-speed transmission rate, and the iTAP technology will play a greater role in the innovation of payment interaction.
13. Chen Qicheng, CTO of Xiamen Dineke Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd
Chen Qicheng, CTO of Xiamen Dinik Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., delivered a keynote speech on "Massive Access Control Equipment Upgrades Losslessly, Shaping a New Experience of Smart Community". He pointed out that access control is a very important application field of iTAP, and Dinecke, as an industry leader, hopes to be based on ITMA and work with Huawei, Alipay and other enterprises to contribute to the ecological construction of iTAP. After careful evaluation, Dinik judged that more than 500,000 devices of the 15,000 communities it serves can support iTAP through OTA lossless upgrades, covering more than 30 million end users. The company has completed the development and testing of iTAP DEMO, and plans to support the iTAP protocol by default for new sales projects, and at the same time increase the promotion of the renovation of old communities, starting to upgrade the iTAP pilot in January 2025, exceeding 2,000 in April 2025, and finally aiming to implement the iTAP protocol in more than 10,000 communities in 2026. Dinik expects to actively participate in the promotion of iTAP standards and ecology, and jointly explore innovative application scenarios such as smart home and smart elderly care.
